AZCOPS officer cleared in use of force incident

AZCOPS is pleased to announce that the Yavapai County Attorney has officially cleared Officer Brian Eckenboy in a shooting that occurred in February 2009.

As AZCOPS Legal and his own department recognized months ago, Officer Eckenboy was fully justified in shooting the suspect after he threatened the officer with a weapon.

Martin Bihn
AZCOPS General Counsel

 

Martin Bihn serves as General Counsel to AZCOPS and in that capacity represents individual members, affiliated associations, as well as AZCOPS itself before administrative agencies and state and federal courts. Martin’s responsibilities range from representing officers at critical incidents and before disciplinary boards to advising and supporting associations in disputes with employers. As General Counsel, Martin is involved in significant civil litigation including: defending member associations, election challenges, wage and hour issues and appellate court matters. Martin is admitted to practice before the Arizona State Courts, US District Court for Arizona, and the 9th and 10th US Circuit Appeals Courts. His office is in Phoenix.

 

 

 

Mike Storie
Attorney
 

Mike Storie is AZCOPS’ lead criminal attorney and is also responsible for handling AZCOPS matters in southern Arizona. Mike may have the most experience of any attorney in Arizona in representing officers in critical incidents ranging from shootings to in-custody deaths. He also handles all cases in which criminal charges are brought against our members for on-duty conduct. Under Mike’s watch, no AZCOPS member has ever been convicted on charges relating to on-duty conduct. Mike is admitted to the Arizona State Courts as well as Federal District Court for the District of Arizona and his office is in Tucson.
